Jessica Joubert is a highly experienced professional with a diverse background in working with a wide range of animals, encompassing both domestic and wildlife species. With a passion for animal training, she has notably excelled in the training of birds for free-flight bird shows. Currently serving as the Senior Curator of Reptiles at the Hoedspruit Reptile Centre since June 2022, Jessica possesses a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles of training robust animal behaviours.
Jessica’s expertise extends to the meticulous care and husbandry of various species, including fish, reptiles, birds, and arachnids. She takes immense pride in her work and plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day planning of student activities, offering valuable assistance in completing assigned tasks. Living on the premises, Jessica ensures that she is readily available for students in case of emergencies, underscoring her commitment to their welfare and education.
Holding a Diploma in Zoology/Animal Biology, Jessica graduated with distinction, showcasing her academic prowess in the field. Her previous role as the Reptile Curator at Montecasino Bird Park in Johannesburg, one of the most visited zoos in the city, further attests to her wealth of experience and competence.
Notably, Jessica is certified by the African Snakebite Institute to handle venomous snakes, showcasing her commitment to safety and expertise in working with potentially dangerous reptiles. Her professional approach, combined with her dedication to the welfare and education of both animals and students, makes Jessica Joubert an invaluable asset in the field of animal care and education.
